The Organizing Committee
(OC) for the 57th General Assembly of the IFMSA,
chaired by Dr. Stefan Hemmings, Mr. Kevin Henry
and Dr. Ramon Arscott, invited current and potential
sponsors to a ceremony celebrating the achievement
teamwork. The OC has worked assiduously to bring
about the successes achieved thus far but the
tremendous guidance and support from our sponsors
have provided the wind for our sails to propel
us forward.
Prof. Gordon Shirley,
our Principal, spoke on our achievements and the
implications for future development of the association
the faculty and the University. The Vice Chancellor,
Prof. Nigel Harris commended our efforts and re-iterated
his support for our association. Prof. McDonald,
Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, UWI Mona,
has worked very closely with the association from
the beginning of the dream. He congratulated us
and encouraged new sponsors to join the team.
Dr. Wright-Pascoe, President of the Medical Association
of Jamaica sent the association home with a charge
to make an impact in society as well as to continue
making strides at the University.On behalf of
Jamaica Tourist Board, Mr. Shields encouraged
us to continue to raise the bar for students in
Jamaica and the Caribbean. Dr. Marion Ducasse
represented the Ministry of Health reinforced
the importance of developing health and education
at the University. Mrs. Joylene Griffiths-Irving
presented the Scotia Bank Foundation sponsorship
cheque and encouraged us to continue to work as
a team and achieve our goal!
